Ranawaka : CEB needs capable future leaders

To achieve development, Sri Lanka must nurture capable youthful leaders to head state institutions such as the Ceylon Electricity Board. This was emphasized by Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka in his keynote address at the 136th birth anniversary celebrations of D.J. Wimalasurendra who pioneered hydro power in Sri Lanka.

Minister Ranawaka explained that the country"s educational system must be tailored to meet national needs.

“An education system that trains students to take up key positions at leading state or semi state commercial ventures are a timely requirement if Sri Lanka is to successfully handle future challenges in development,” said Rawanaka, while emphasizing that Sri Lanka would become the first country in the region to supply electricity at an affordable price by 2012 due to the reforms introduced at the Ceylon Electricity Board.

He appealed to the 15,000 employees of the CEB to make an extra effort in handling their responsibilities efficiently and to improve productivity at the premier utility provider as there was a huge potential to achieve their personal goals while improving the CEB"s productivity.
