New nuclear projects may be seen in China soon

A draft nuclear power safety regulation is now ready to be sent to the State Council after minor adjustments.

According to Bloomberg, China may resume approving new nuclear projects after the cabinet endorses draft safety rules prepared by the Ministry of Environmental Protection.

In the report, Zhao Chengkun, vice president of the China Nuclear Energy Association, said: “Technically, all conditions would be met after the State Council approves this new safety regulation.”

Bloomberg noted that the regulation outlines rules and goals for nuclear safety by 2020, the ministry said.
