Essar Energy signs PPA for Tori-II thermal plant

Essar Energy has entered into a 25-year power purchase agreement for 240 MW of contracted capacity with Noida Power Company Limited.

The power will be sourced from Essar's 600 MW Tori-II thermal power plant, which is presently under construction in the state of Jharkhand. The power supply from the plant is expected to begin from April, 2014.

Essar will supply power at a delivered levelised tariff, including transmission costs, of Rs 4.08 per kWh, which is the highest long term tariff achieved through competitive bidding in India to date. The levelised tariff net of transmission costs is Rs 3.27 per kWh.
