India interconnects with BangladeshA 400kV D/C line would connect Bahrampur in eastern India to Bheramara in Bangladesh. An HVDC switching station will also be established at Bheramara. This is based on the agreement signed by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited with Bangladesh Power Development Board identifying the proposed Indo-Bangladesh Electrical Interconnector. It is in accordance with the MOU signed between India and Bangladesh during January, 2010. The Indian portion of this electrical link is to be implemented by Powergrid and the tariff as fixed by CERC would be paid by Bangladesh Power Development Board. This electrical link, which is likely to be completed by end of 2012, would facilitate exchange of 500MW power between two countries. Do you know more about this story?
