Macau power outage affects 1,798 customers

CEM utilised its mobile unit to restore power at San Kio and the Three Lamps Area.

The customer substation PT 461 located at Chi Fu Garden had a medium voltage power equipment fault last August 8 that caused power supply interruption that affected 1,798 customers.

Companhia de Electricidade de Macau immediately started-up its ring configuration system, through which some customers had their electricity resumed within 3 to 5 minutes. As the customer substation at Chi Fu Garden was seriously damaged and the equipment had to be replaced, 1,562 households in 29 buildings were affected for a longer period of time. To minimise the occurrence, CEM brought-up to the site a mobile unit and after the emergency repairing works of the staff. Power was immediately resumed to all affected customers.

CEM subsequently conducted a thorough investigation of its causes. Moreover, the company will submit a report about the incident to the government’s Energy Sector Development Office.
