Meralco to complete 12 power projects for 2010

Meralco hopes to complete 12 more electric capital projects for 2010, adding a total of 249 mega-volt amperes to its distribution substation capacity.

“These projects include three new distribution substations, one sub-transmission line upgrading, one sub-transmission line reconfiguration, and the upgrade of seven distribution lines. The new sub-station facilities will provide the additional capacity needed to accommodate new applications for electric service and likewise normalize six critically loaded power transformer banks,” said Manila Electric Company executive vice-president and networks head Ricardo V. Buencamino.

Once completed, the projects will allow the utility to reduce its technical losses by 6,009,301 kilowatt-hours per year, which translates to a P37.3-million reduction in system loss charges to its customers.

Buencamino said the completion of these projects would further reduce the company’s technical system loss by our six million kilowatt-hours per year. It would also reduce around P37.3 million in system loss charges to its customers.
