Pakistan ready for more Chinese solar energy investments

Pakistan assures China it will facilitate and support more Chinese investments in its solar energy sector.

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf invited the China Electrical Equipment Group (CEEG) to invest in Pakistan's solar energy sector during a visit by a CEEG delegation that called on him and discussed cooperation in the energy sector.

The Prime Minister noted that China has extended significant support to Pakistan’s energy sector. Among the Chinese projects are the Nandi Pur Power Plant, the Neelum Jhelum Hydropower project, and the Guddu Power Plant.

He appreciated the efforts of CEEG and told its President, Jia Yangang, to help exploit the vast potential of Pakistan’s solar energy sector.

Ashraf invited Chinese companies to start their projects in the shortest possible time. He directed the Ministry of Water & Power to fast track Chinese projects so these could be launched quickly.

"You have the capability and we have the need," Ashraf said.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan and China enjoy an “all-weather friendship” and the two countries have cooperated in many sectors of economy.
