A generation capacity of 6,494MW.

This is the amount of energy from the 20 power units India had to shut down across the country on the day after the Diwali Festival of light.

Furthermore, 25 transmission lines with 9,732 MW were also shut.

Four power units went out of order in the northern region impacting 1,916 MW capacity of the region.

The southern region had four power units, aggregating 1,010 MW, shut down due to technical problems.

Nine power units, totaling 2,558 MW generation capacity, were taken out in the western region.

In the eastern region, the 210 MW unit 2 of the Bokaro'B TPS and the 300 MW unit 2 of the Sagardighi TPS were both taken offline due to tube leakage problems. Moreover, one unit of the Durgapur Steel TPS was also forced to shut down for a short while.

Pertinently, fifteen 400 kv transmission lines were taken offline in the northern region due to high voltage.

Three transmission lines, including the 132 kv Barhi-Biharshariff line in the eastern region and four transmission lines in the western region were also taken out of service on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, two of the three transmission lines that were shut down in the southern region were revived during the day itself.
