Aboitiz to increase Sibulan plant's capacity

Aboitiz Power will boost its Sibulan hydroelectric plant in Davao del Sur by 13.6MW.

The plant has an 42.5MW capacity.

Plans cover the construction of the Tuduya Project, an expansion of the Sibulan project, under which the first unit will generate 6.6MW and the second unit will generate 7MW.

The first unit will be built upstream, while the second will be situated downstream and the firm will complete the Taduya project before building another 11MW hydropower facility.

The project may take two years for completion and both the projects are run-of-river generating facilities, according to Aboitiz Power senior vice-president Luis Miguel Aboitiz.
