BHEL bags Malwa Thermal Power Project contract

BHEL bags Malwa Thermal Power Project contract

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured a contract worth Rs.31,500 million to supply equipment to the Malwa Thermal Power Project. Outbidding Chinese equipment suppliers, BHEL bagged the contract from Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited (MPPGCL) under International Competitive Bidding (ICB).

The upcoming thermal power project will be located in Madhya Pradesh and is expected to augment the state’s existing generating capacity. Under the contract, BHEL will handle the design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of steam turbines, generators, boilers and auxiliaries.

The order for the main plant package involves installation of two 600MW new-rating units. This is the first order for the 600MW sets secured by BHEL in Madhya Pradesh. In 39 months the first unit is set to be operational, while the second one is scheduled to be commissioned in 43 months.

BHEL manufactures over 180 products under 30 major product groups and caters to Indian core sectors such as power generation and transmission, transportation, telecommunication and renewable energy.
