Taipower breaks ground for $211m 100MW solar power plant

It will start powering over 30,000 homes before the year ends.

State-owned Taiwan Powwer Corporation broke ground for a 100MW solar power plant at the Changhua Coastal Industrial Park. The project is expected to cost around US$211m with 339,000 solar panels installed at the 150-ha site.

The facility, which will generate 130 million kWh annually and electrify over 30,000 households, is expected to start operating before 2018 ends.

It will be the nation's largest ground-mounted solar system and the world's 54th largest solar plant.

Taipower also eyes building a solar power plant in Tainan with 150MW capacity.
