Japan to export nuke technology: PM

An agreement has been adopted on cooperating, developing and using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes between Japan and several countries.

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda affirmed in a session of the Japanese House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Relations that Japan will, in principle, export its nuclear technology as long as it is still wanted by other countries.

Bilateral nuclear cooperation accords with Russia, the Republic of Korea, Vietama and Jordan were ratified on December 2. All of them were signed before the nuclear crisis occurred at the Fukushima No 1 nuclear power plant.

The accords, which will lay legal foundations for Japanese companies to supply nuclearequipment and technology to other countries, are due to be approved by the Japanese parliament before its session ends on December 9.

Japan has signed similar bilateral nuclear accords with the European Atomic Energy Community and the UK, France, Australia, Canada, China and Kazakhstan.
