Western Australia to add 1.8GW RE under investment scheme
Projects will be required to participate in WA's Reserve Capacity Mechanism.
The Australian government has launched another 1.8 gigawatts (GW) of renewable generation initiative in Western Australia via the Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS).
The tender is the first to require participation in the government’s new Developer Rating Scheme (DRS), focusing on projects' ability to deliver, including their ability to attract financing.
Consistent with previous tenders, projects will be required to participate in Western Australia's Reserve Capacity Mechanism to maintain a reliable electricity supply.
Registrations opened on 25 August, with bids opening on 27 August alongside the release of the tender guidelines.
In total, CIS tenders this year have already backed 10 projects delivering 1.9 GW of renewable generation and 482 megawatts of storage.
