Hystar, BHEL to localise PEM electrolyser production in India

Deal supports India’s push to build a domestic green hydrogen industry.

Hystar and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) have signed a strategic collaboration agreement to enable the phased local manufacturing of ultra-efficient PEM electrolysers for green hydrogen projects in India.

The partnership will combine Hystar’s high-efficiency PEM electrolyser technology with BHEL’s engineering, manufacturing and project execution capabilities to develop cost-competitive, locally manufactured systems for the Indian market.

The agreement was signed at BHEL’s corporate office in New Delhi in the presence of a delegation from the Royal Norwegian Embassy led by Chargé d’Affaires Arvinn Eikeland Gadgil.

The collaboration comes as India advances its domestic green hydrogen industry under the National Green Hydrogen Mission and the government’s “Make in India” initiatives.

Hystar CEO Fredrik Mowill said the partnership provides a path to deploy the company’s technology in India while building local capabilities with BHEL.
