Pacifico Energy advances 1.3GW offshore wind project in Vietnam
Project is targeted for commercial operations between 2031 and 2035.
Pacifico Energy Vietnam has secured a sea survey licence from Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Environment for the 1,300MW Nam Trung Bo 3 offshore wind project in Lam Dong Province.
The project is included in Vietnam’s Adjusted Power Development Plan VIII, with commercial operations expected between 2031 and 2035.
The licence allows Pacifico Energy to conduct technical and environmental studies across the approved offshore area.
The company will carry out desktop assessments before launching field surveys in 2027, covering geotechnical and geophysical conditions, wind measurements, meteorological and oceanographic data, and environmental baselines.
The approval follows a February 2026 sea survey licence for Pacifico Energy’s 500MW Nam Bo PE2.1 offshore wind project in Ho Chi Minh City. Together, the projects represent a 1.8GW offshore wind pipeline in Vietnam.
Pacifico Energy said the projects will support Vietnam’s energy security and growing electricity demand while contributing to offshore wind industry development.
Nate Franklin, founder and group chairman of Pacifico Energy, said the approval is a significant step towards advancing the Nam Trung Bo 3 project. “It reflects our long-term confidence in Vietnam’s offshore wind potential and our commitment to supporting the country’s energy security and sustainable growth through development of complex energy infrastructure projects aligned with global best practices.”
