Australia greenlights WestWind's 122-MW Victoria wind project

It will comprise up to 17 wind turbines.

WestWind Energy has received Victorian Minister for Planning approval for Normanville Energy Park, a 122-megawatt wind facility within the North West Renewable Energy Zone near Kerang in the Gannawarra Shire.

The project will comprise up to 17 wind turbines and associated electrical infrastructure, with output expected to power approximately 90,000 Victorian homes once operational.

Construction is expected to attract approximately $350m in investment and create up to 60 on-site jobs over two years.

Once operational, the project will support two to three ongoing local roles and contribute more than $900,000 annually to the local economy through community benefit initiatives, neighbour and host landholder payments, council rates, and project expenditure.

The planning approval followed environmental and technical assessments covering biodiversity, landscape, cultural heritage, noise, traffic, aviation, and bushfire considerations.
