China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group (CGN) will start building two offshore wind farms with a total capacity of 900MW off the eastern coast of the Guangdong Province, Offshore Wind reports.

CGN already started constructing the control centres for the 500MW Houhu and 400MW Huizhou offshore wind farms. The Houhu project is expected to commissioned by end-2021 whilst the Huizhou farm could be operational by mid-2022.

In a separate report, CGN obtained the approval for a 216MW offshore wind farm in Dayu island, Daishan county. In November 2018, the firm already got a pre-approval from the Zhoushan Ocean and Fishery Bureau (ZSOAF) to use the area for an offshore wind project.

On 8 January, Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) said it won a contract to build a 220kV substation for the wind farm.
