Levanta breaks ground on 166 MWp solar project in PH

The Barotac Viejo Solar Power Project will include an integrated 80 MWh BESS.

Levanta Renewables has commenced construction of the 166 megawatt-peak (MWp) Barotac Viejo Solar Power Project in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo, Philippines. 

The project features an 80 megawatt-hours (MWh) battery energy storage system (BESS) alongside the solar installation, Levanta Renewables said in a press release.

Developed through Levanta's project company Magallanes Solar Energy Corp., the project is scheduled to commence commercial operations in the second quarter of 2027. 

The facility is expected to generate approximately 261 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of clean electricity annually, enough to power around 136,000 households whilst avoiding an estimated 200,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year.

Levanta Renewables is a Singapore-headquartered renewable energy platform backed by Actis, the sustainable infrastructure business of General Atlantic, which manages approximately $126bin combined assets. 

The company is building a gigawatt-scale renewable energy portfolio across Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
