Mitsubishi Power clinches 1,400 MW GTCC Thai power plant deal

Mitsubishi Power will provide two M701JAC gas turbines for the facility.

Mitsubishi Power has signed a full turnkey contract with Hin Kong Power for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of a 1,400 MW natural gas-fired turbine combined cycle (GTCC) in Thailand on 29 September.

The facility, to be built about 100 km west of Bangkok, will house two M701JAC gas turbines provided by Mitsubishi Power.

The contract includes a 25-year long-term service agreement (LTSA), saying that Mitsubishi Power will conduct maintenance of the facility’s gas turbines.

Power generated by the plant will be sold to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT). Meanwhile, the facility’s commercial operation will start in March 2024 and January 2025.
