Masdar, NPCC ink deal for RE dev’t exploration

They will initially focus on offshore wind projects.

Renewable energy firm Masdar and United Arab Emirates-based National Petroleum Construction Company, an engineering procurement and construction company signed an agreement to explore collaboration in developing renewable energy technologies.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding, the companies will focus first on offshore wind and will explore other sectors including green hydrogen production and battery storage technologies. 

“Masdar and NPCC share a common commitment to advancing the UAE’s leadership position in the energy sector and to driving sustainable growth,” Masdar CEO Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi said. 

“By leveraging each other’s world-class expertise in our respective fields, our combined efforts could play a vital role in achieving the UAE’s clean energy objectives and support our nation’s net-zero commitment,” he added.

Masdar is a major developer and investor in wind projects which include its stake in the offshore wind project London Array and the first floating offshore wind farm in Hywind Scotland. It signed an agreement with Cosmo Energy Holdings Co. to explore the development of renewable energy including offshore wind projects in Japan.

It is also working on developing green hydrogen by collaborating with international partners.
