B.Grimm Power, INNIO ink MoU to develop power plants in Thailand

The partnership will focus on the LNG and natural gas segments.

Energy firm B.Grimm Power and energy solutions provider INNIO signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on building new power plant projects in Thailand, focusing on jointly developing the natural gas and liquified natural gas (LNG) sectors.

In a statement, INNIO said the MoU will outline the collaboration framework for building projects in the LNG and natural gas segments from 2022 to 2024. They will study the development of decentralised and highly efficient power plants.

“As Thailand has increased its climate change commitments, we are now aiming to reduce carbon emissions with the support of companies that can provide proven expertise in highly efficient green technology, such as INNIO,” said Harald Link, Chairman of the Board of B.Grimm.

“As Thailand’s electrical energy demand continues to grow, it will require power generation technologies that run not only on natural gas, but also on future fuels such as hydrogen and deliver sustainable grid support as well for the higher share of fluctuating renewable power like sun and wind in our portfolio,” Link added.

For his part, INNIO CEO and President Olaf Berlien said the partnership will offer Thailand support to its target to reduce emissions and transition to net-zero.

B.Grimm Power subsidiary delivers over 2.8 gigawatts of power to Thailand, INNIO said.
