India issued 2.68GW of renewable tenders in February
1.89GW of these are for utility-scale solar power.
About 2,676MW of renewable tenders were issued in February 2020, including 1,887 MW of utility-scale solar tenders, 600MW of wind tenders, 150MW of renewable power procurement tenders and 40MW rooftop solar tenders, according to JMK Research & Analytics.
Some of the requests for selection (RfS) involve NTPC’s issue for 1,200MW of utility-scale solar power with a ceiling tariff of INR2.78 per kWh and its issue for 600MW of wind power.
Auctions have been completed for about 4.9GW of tenders. Moreover, about 364MW of new solar capacity and 107MW of new wind capacity is added.
Some key deals include Actis’ acquisition of Acme’s 600MW solar assets, Total’s investment in the 50% equity of Adani solar projects, and CLP Group’s acquisition of Mahindra’s 122MW solar assets.
Global investors including Brookfield, Omers, Mubadala and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) are in early stage discussions with Tata Power to invest around $500-600m (INR3,500 crore-4,200 crore) in its renewable energy platform.
