DP Energy bags EPBC approval for Queensland wind farm
Construction will commence this year.
Irish firm DP Energy has received Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation approval for its Callide Wind Farm in Queensland, Australia.
In a statement, the company said the approval was granted by the Australian Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.
Construction of the 430 megawatt (MW) project, which will feature up to 70 wind turbine generators, will commence this year. It is expected to energise 130,000 households once completed, and support Queensland’s target of a 30% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
This development follows the receipt of the Secretary's environmental assessment requirements for the 700 MW Euston Wind Farm in New South Wales, Australia, a critical step towards Development Approval.
DP Energy’s other projects in the country include the 320 MW Port Augusta Renewable Energy Park in South Australia as well as a pipeline of early stage projects primarily in New South Wales and Queensland.
