Tata Power to power Noida airport with renewables
Around $66m will be invested in the project.
Tata Power and Noida International Airport (NIA) have signed two power purchase agreements to develop and supply the Noida International Airport solar and wind power.
In a statement, Tata Power said it will allocate $66m for the 25-year agreement.
Under the deal, Tata Power Trading Company Ltd. (TPTCL) will supply 10.8 megawatts (MW) of wind power to NIA, with secured assets from Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. (TPREL). Solar power, meanwhile, will be generated through a 13 MW onsite plant that will be developed, operated, and maintained by TPREL.
Tata Power will also develop critical dry utilities, including essential electrical infrastructure, and will provide operation and maintenance (O&M) services for this infrastructure over a 25-year period.
“This collaboration will support development of Net Zero Airports, catering to millions of Indians, accelerating the country's path towards a greener future,” said Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO& MD, Tata Power.
“By sourcing more than half of our energy needs from renewable sources, we are taking decisive action towards a more sustainable future,” said Christoph Schnellmann, CEO, Noida International Airport.
