Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL, National Nuclear Energy Agency of Indonesia in MOU

The deal eyes building a development framework between the 2 countries.

Rosatom said today that its fuel company TVEL and the National Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN) signed MoU. The deal aims at creating a framework for the development of Russian-Indonesian cooperation in the field of nuclear fuel cycle (NFC).

The signing ceremony took place at the recent workshop titled “Modern Technologies & Solutions of the Russian Nuclear Industry” in Jakarta. The workshop was organized by the Rosatom International Network, a Rosatom corporation, subsidiary in cooperation with BATAN.

“We highly appreciate the interest of Indonesia in the development of cooperation with Russia in the nuclear technology domain. The fuel company of ROSATOM is ready to offer Indonesian partners the modern and safe solutions in NFC field, as well as to develop mutually beneficial cooperation based on the rich experience gained during decades of our work”, said TVEL.

According to a representative of BATAN, this document provides a solid basis for the implementation of joint projects in NFC field.

“Today, in Indonesia three research reactors are in operation, moreover the construction of a multipurpose experimental reactor is planned. We need reliable and experienced partners to ensure efficient and safe operation of current and future projects in the nuclear industry. Being one of the leaders of the world nuclear fuel market, TVEL company is precisely such a partner”, said the representative of the National Nuclear Energy Agency of Indonesia.

The workshop “Modern Technologies & Solutions of the Russian Nuclear Industry” was held in Jakarta and was dedicated to the Russian experience in the application of various nuclear technologies. Besides TVEL representatives, delegates of other leading Russian nuclear industry companies made presentations.

From the Indonesian side over 100 representatives of various ministries, agencies, and major companies attended the workshop.
