Pertamina Geothermal on its toes for PPA changes for 30MW Karaha geothermal project
It's waiting for PLN's final decision on hiking the PPA rate to $0.114/kWh.
Pertamina Geothermal Energy is waiting for a final decision of amendments to a power purchase agreement with PLN for its 30MW Karaha geothermal project. Due to the massive investment required to make the project successful, Pertamina Geothermal is looking to increase the rate to $0.114/kWh.
According to Pertamina Geothermal's director Khairul Rozaq, US$178m investment will be needed in order to produce the 30MW from the project. These funds will be used for the upstream development of the project and to connect the plant to the 26km-long transmission lines across 60 transmission towers.
“We had a revised plan for $ 0.116/ kWh, but no agreement has been reached. Yesterday, BPKP verified the PPA for $0.114/ kWh but until now no amendment has been made, so we ask for government assistance for the amendment of the PPA to $0.1144/ kWh, Khairul said on in local news today.
