Aboitiz Power unit to decommission Naga oil-fired plant

This will be effective next month.

Aboitiz Power Corporation’s subsidiary Therma PowerVisayas, Inc. (TPVI) has received approval to decommision its 44.640 megawatt (MW) Naga Oil-Fired Power Plant and 0.440 MW Black Start Diesel Engine Generating Unit.

In a bourse filing, Aboitiz Power said it was informed that TPVI has received the letter of confirmation (LOC) from the Philippines’ Department of Energy.

The facilities are located at the Naga Power Plant Complex in Barangay Colon, Naga City, Cebu.

Aboitiz Power said the decommissioning, effective 31 March 2025, was pursued given the technical and operational issues of the plant caused mainly by the advanced age of the diesel engines.

Notices regarding the LOC will be sent to the appropriate offices and entities.
