Aboitiz Power unit deactivates two power barges
These will resume services in 2027.
Therma Mobile, Inc. (TMO), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aboitiz Power Corporation, has announced that two of its bunker C-fired power barges will temporarily go offline due to technical and commercial challenges.
In a disclosure, Aboitiz Power said the concerned barges are TMO Mobile 4 and Mobile 6 in Navotas Fishport Complex in Navotas City, Metro Manila. The subsidiary has received the letter of confirmation (LOC) from the Department of Energy to mothball the two facilities, it added.
“The LOC was issued following TMO’s filing of a letter of intent to mothball TMO Mobile 4 and Mobile 6 due to technical and commercial challenges that prevent or hamper their full utilisation and continued safe and efficient operation,” the filing read.
The barges have been deactivated, with a target return to service on 1 February 2027.
Generation activities will continue through TMO Mobile 3 and Mobile 5, whose operations will not be affected by the said mothballing.
