Kol Dam HEP commissioning now slated for 2013

NTPC's 800 MW Kol Dam hydro electric project is now expected to be commissioned by March 2013,

The previously slated date was in April 2009, which is almost four years after.

This was ascertained after a number of critical activities now at an advanced stage of completion.

CCEA approval to the project was accorded in October 2002, at an overall cost of Rs 4527.15 crore, out of which the foreign exchange component amounts to 143.97 million US dollars. The anticipated cost of the project at present remains the same as the original cost.

The cumulative expenditure since inception up to 31st March 2011 was Rs 3639 crore. As opposed to the outlay of Rs 640 crore for the annual plan of this year, the total expenditure during this year till the end of May stands at Rs 56 crore. Therefore, the cumulative expenditure till May 2011 has risen to Rs 3695 crore.
