Masdar announces partners for 24/7 solar-battery storage plant
Letters of award have been signed for the project
Masdar has announced the companies it will be working with for the development of the 5.2 gigawatt (GW) solar plus battery storage project that will run 24/7 in Abu Dhabi.
In a statement, the company said Jinko Solar and JA Solar are the preferred suppliers for photovoltaic modules amounting to 2.6 GW capacity each. CATL, meanwhile, was named as the preferred supplier for the 19 gigawatt-hour (GWh) battery energy storage facility.
Larsen & Toubro and POWERCHINA were named as the preferred engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors.
Letters of Award for the EPC contractors have been signed.
Masdar, in collaboration with Emirates Water and Electricity Company, is developing the project that can deliver up to 1 GW of baseload power 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It will feature a 5.2 GW solar plant, along with a 19 GWh battery energy storage facility.
