Myanmar, Russia partner in nuclear infrastructure field
They will develop a plan for small nuclear power plant construction in Myanmar.
Russia’s State Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom) and Myanmar’s Ministry of Science and Technology signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on nuclear infrastructure assessment and enhancement.
In a statement, Rosatom said the parties will assess the current needs of Myanmar for the development of nuclear infrastructure and craft a plan for priority areas to implement small nuclear power plant projects.

The MOU also indicated further cooperation between the two countries in the fields of training and human resource development, enhancement of safety culture in organizations, and participation in Myanma’s nuclear energy development programme.
The development of nuclear infrastructure will be aligned with the approaches of the International Atomic Energy Agency and the recommendations of Rosatom’s best practices.
