Squadron bags planning approval for NSW wind farm
Nearly 400,000 homes will benefit from this.
Squadron Energy has secured the Independent Planning Commission approval of the New South Wales government for its 700-megawatt Spicers Creek Wind Farm in the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone.
The project, which is one of the largest approved in the Australian state, will house up to 117 wind turbines that can generate electricity for up to 395,000 homes and prevent 650,000 tonnes of emissions annually.
“This project is going to create more than 330 jobs and inject $46.9 million into the regional economy,” said Squadron Energy Head of Project Development Trish McDonald.
McDonald said the company is currently working on the detailed design, management plans, and other secondary approvals to ensure the project is ready for construction.
"We will continue to work closely with landholders and community stakeholders, seeking feedback from the local community as the project progresses,” McDonald said.
