IndianOil’s robust foray into digital transformation

IndianOil receives major accolade at Asian Oil & Gas Awards 2022.

India’s Oil & Gas major, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) bagged the coveted honour of ‘Digital Transformation Initiative of the Year at the recent Asian Oil & Gas Awards 2022 for its flagship digital transformation programme Project i-DRIVE.

Project i-DRIVE, deemed as IndianOil’s Digital Readiness and IT Vision Enablement, is one of India’s largest and most ambitious digital transformation programmes aiming to disrupt and transform the existing business processes, upskill the digital workforce, and leverage cutting-edge tools and technologies. This unique project promises to augment the transformation journey and bring in the required change management to sustain and drive it further. Pioneering digital transformation at an enterprise level,  Project i-DRIVE has achieved significant traction across 150+ initiatives, spanning 10 business themes encapsulating customers, operations, supply chain projects, employees, vendors and other stakeholders.

AI/ML-powered advanced analytics for core operations, customer interactive verticals, democratising emerging technology platforms, and i-Drive initiatives have been driving value across diverse organisational functions. These include robotic process automation, augmented reality, virtual reality and deploying custom-off-the-shelf tools to revamp the technology stack across departments.

The working teams have been following a structured process where business problems are identified and prioritised across the organisational set-up and subsequently taken up to devise suitable solutions by a dedicated DCoE (Digital Centre of Excellence).

IndianOil has introduced focused interventions to enhance customer experience and drive operational efficiencies for maximised yield and availability improvement.

Mr Manish Grover, Executive Director (Strategic IS & IS), at IndianOil remarked, “Exciting results of analytics-driven initiatives have only increased our appetite to accelerate our digital journey and create more value”. As the head of the digital transformation project of IndianOil, Mr Grover shared that as the digitalisation journey started transforming businesses the world over, IndianOil surged ahead to join the digital revolution. The infant steps taken as part of a modest-yet-structured digital strategy soon evolved into an enterprise-wide digital transformation programme that significantly impacted each business segment.
