Singapore eyes pooling its local group of nuke experts

The ambition is to be realized in the next five years.

Singapore has already made it clear: it doesn't plan to erect nuclear power plants. But this doesn't mean that the country has set aside the importance of managing nuclear safety.

Singapore is planning to develop its own local pool of nuclear experts in the next five years, according to the National Research Foundation. Its scientists are currently training for nuclear safety management to protect Singaporeans from radiation.

This is just one of the roles Singapore's nuclear experts are expected to do. Secondly, NRF said that the group is also focusing on nuclear forensics to detect and trace radioactive materials which are potential instruments in making bombs.
