India on track to hit 20GW of solar capacity by late March 2018

It only needs 420MW more to achieve this.

The Indian government is close to achieving its target of 20 GW of solar power generation capacity before the end of the current fiscal year (end-March 2018). At the end of February 2018, around 19.58 GW were connected to the domestic grid.

India aims to reach 100 GW of solar capacity connected to the grid by 2022 and has decided to auction 30 GW solar energy capacities each in 2018-2019 and 2019-2020.

Moreover, the government is pursuing the same objective with other renewable energy sources. 10 GW of wind capacities will be auctioned in 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 each to achieve 60 GW of wind power generation capacities by 2022.
