JERA launches India subsidiary

The subsidiary will engage with local governments and companies in India.

Japan’s JERA has started the full-scale operations of its New Delhi subsidiary JERA Energy India Private Limited.

In a statement, JERA said the India subsidiary will be responsible for information gathering on renewable energy, green hydrogen and ammonia, and liquified natural gas to Power and other projects.

JERA Energy India is also tasked to build relations with government offices and agencies, and local companies, amongst others.

JERA has been investing in renewable energy firm ReNew since 2017 and is jointly developing green ammonia production in April 2024.

India aims to reach 500 gigawatts of renewable energy by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2070.
