This accolade celebrates GLRS’s groundbreaking contributions to environmental sustainability through its innovative approach to managing food waste.

GLRS stands out in the waste management sector by addressing one of the most pressing environmental concerns: food waste. Rather than allowing processed and packaged food waste to end up in landfills, GLRS uses advanced composting technology to transform organic waste into nutrient-rich compost.

This approach not only minimises the harmful environmental impacts associated with landfill use—such as methane emissions—but also promotes a circular economy by returning composted food waste to the soil.

At the heart of GLRS’s success is the Automated Organic Waste Converter, a cutting-edge system that efficiently processes food waste into high-quality compost. By reducing the need for manual labour and enhancing operational efficiency, this technology converts waste into a soil enhancer, which can be used for agricultural and landscaping purposes.

The compost produced is rich in nutrients and has the potential to significantly improve soil fertility, structure, and overall plant health.

This closed-loop approach to food waste management has numerous environmental benefits, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions, extending the lifespan of existing landfills, and conserving energy. Supporting a net zero future

GLRS has set a clear objective of driving progress toward net zero emissions. By turning food waste into valuable resources, the company has taken significant strides in promoting carbon sequestration and reducing the release of harmful gases such as methane, which is a potent contributor to climate change. If left to decompose in a landfill, one dry ton of food waste can produce approximately 65 kg of methane. GLRS’s composting solution significantly mitigates this environmental hazard.

The company’s compost materials are designed with both sustainability and user-friendliness in mind. Each package includes specifications and guidelines for using the compost, ensuring that customers can maximise its benefits for gardening, landscaping, and agricultural applications.

“We prioritise waste diversion rate, water intensity, energy efficiency, and environmentally friendly product manufacture. We track food waste diverted from landfills and energy efficiency when food waste is disposed of using other waste management statistics such as landfills and into compost, where it is transformed into valuable resources,” GLRS said.

Additionally, GLRS works closely with Dubai Municipality (DM) to ensure that all its waste management processes meet regulatory standards. The company facilitates its clients' compliance with DM’s Waste Disposal Services (WDS) by issuing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) after inspecting and verifying that waste has been properly recycled and composted. This step is critical for ensuring that clients uphold sustainability standards and contribute to environmental protection.
