MTerra Solar begins delivering 85 MW to Luzon grid
First 85 MW sent to Luzon grid.
Meralco PowerGen Corporation has begun supplying electricity from its MTerra Solar project to the Luzon grid, marking the facility’s first power delivery around 16 months after groundbreaking.
The company said the project was energised as a generator on 14 March through its affiliate, Terra Solar Philippines Inc., with the initial phase set to supply up to 85 MW of mid-merit power to support peak daytime demand and to begin deliveries to Meralco.
Output is expected to ramp up further in the coming months in coordination with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines under its system impact study and operating plan.
Once fully completed, MTerra Solar is expected to deliver 3,500 MWp of solar photovoltaic capacity paired with a 4,500 MWh battery energy storage system, making it one of the country’s biggest integrated solar and battery projects.
The facility is projected to supply clean energy to around 2.4 million households and avoid an estimated 4.3 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
Phase 1 remains on track for completion this year, whilst Phase 2 is already under construction.
