EMA awards Energy-Industry Scholarship to 8 engineering students

The scholarship covers tuition fees and a one-time allowance of $1,200 for course-related expenses.

Eight engineering students have been awarded the prestigious Energy-Industry Scholarship (EIS) for this year, a program jointly offered by the Energy Market Authority (EMA) and various sponsoring organisations.

The scholarship is designed to develop talent in the energy sector to support Singapore's sustainable energy goals.

The recipients will work with five energy companies after completing their studies and National Service (if applicable).

The awardees, along with their respective sponsoring organizations, are as follows: Lai Yun Xiang Joshua, sponsored by Singapore LNG Corporation Pte Ltd, from Singapore Polytechnic; Tan Jun Heng, Travis, and Sreeram Rojin, sponsored by KMC O&M Pte. Ltd, also from Singapore Polytechnic; Guan Lixiang, sponsored by PacificLight Power Pte Ltd, from Singapore Polytechnic; and Chen Sze Yee, sponsored by Singapore Power Limited, from Singapore Polytechnic. Additionally, Muhammad Shakir Bin Muhamad Shawaluddin and Muhammad Naim Jamal Bin Jamal Isyam, both sponsored by Singapore Power Limited, are from Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Lastly, Muhammad Syafiq Bin Mohamed Farid, sponsored by YTL PowerSeraya Pte. Limited, is also from Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

The EIS program is open to students eager to contribute to Singapore's shift toward a more sustainable energy future.

Since its launch in 2014, the EIS has been integral to EMA's and the industry's commitment to developing a robust pipeline of local talent to support Singapore's critical infrastructure.

The scholarship covers tuition fees, a one-time allowance of $1,200 for course-related expenses, and a monthly living allowance of $1,000.

The EMA said it will continue to work with industry partners to ensure a skilled workforce to support Singapore's energy transition.
