AGL Energy slams reports of an offer from Alinta Energy

The Aussie firm says it has not received any offers to acquire Liddell Power Station.

AGL Energy Limited (AGL) notes media reports this morning that AGL has received an offer from Alinta Energy to acquire the Liddell Power Station.

At this stage, AGL has not received any offer from Alinta.

AGL has sought clarification from Alinta in relation to the media reports. Alinta has advised that its offer will be submitted later today. AGL will provide further updates to the market as appropriate.

AGL has not sought to sell the Liddell Power Station, as it requires Liddell to provide energy to its customers until 2022 and for repurposing as part of its NSW Generation Plan post 2022.
