Adani Power eyes conclusion of critical works of unit-1 Tiroda thermal plant

Adani Power Limited will wrap up all the critical activities of the 660 MW unit-I of the Tiroda Thermal Power Plant by January next year.

They have revised the commissioning schedule of the project twice during the ongoing fiscal year.

The insulation and refractory works associated with the steam generator works are progressing steadily along with the turbine generator activities, including piping and evacuation, which are well under way.

The cooling tower is already in the process of being commissioned and coal or ash handling system is being erected. The coal firing process, which was forced to be delayed by a period of 5 months, is expected to be concluded by the end of December.

The project, which initially had a capacity of 2x660 MW, is now being expanded to 3,300 MW with 3 more units of 660 MW each being implemented in the second phase. The TPP was expected to meet most of its coal requirement from captive mines, though it was awarded two coal blocks with combined estimated reserves of approximately 170 MT.
