Aboitiz Power breaks ground for 48-MW Nasipit hybrid energy storage project
This will be completed in 2026.
Aboitiz Power Corporation, through its subsidiary Therma Marine Inc. (TMI), has broken ground for its 48 megawatt Nasipit Hybrid Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Agusan del Norte.
In a statement, Aboitiz Power said the project will be integrated into its oil-fired power facility TMI Mobile 2. It is expected to come online in the second quarter of 2026.
This development comes after Aboitiz Power installed a hybrid BESS in its TMI Mobile 1 oil-fired power plant in Maco, Davao de Oro, which began commercial operations in 2022.
“Once completed, the Nasipit BESS project will help enable more grid stability and support the growing share of renewable energy in our grid. It’s a smart solution for a smarter energy landscape,” said AboitizPower Transition Business Group COO for Operated Assets Ronaldo Ramos.
