Alinta Energy and JERA Nex collaborate on Spinifex Offshore Wind Farm development

It will be developed in the Southern Ocean Region Declared Area in South West Victoria.

Alinta Energy and JERA Nex, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Parkwind, partnered to develop the Spinifex Offshore Wind Farm in South West Victoria in Australia.

In a statement, Alinta Energy said they have identified the project site and will engage with the local stakeholders in improving the project proposal.

The project, which has a capacity of over one gigawatt, could contribute up to around $1.04b (A$1.6b) to the regional economy during the construction period, and $26m (A$40m) annually during its operations.

“There is huge potential for offshore wind in Australia and we’re confident that the combination of Alinta Energy’s local expertise and experience and our offshore credentials provide a strong foundation for this project,” said Francois Van Leeuw VP of Development & Construction Offshore, JERA Nex and co-CEO of Parkwind.
