Australia OKs 800 MW Prairie Wind Farm
This will energise homes in six areas.
The Albanese Government has approved the 800 megawatt Prairie Wind Farm, a new wind farm located 40 kilometres northeast of Hughenden in North Queensland.
In a statement, Australian authorities said the plant will generate energy that can power households in Townsville, Cairns, the Sunshine Coast, Rockhampton, Mackay, and Bundaberg.
The 800 megawatt plant will have 116 wind turbines which will provide electricity to the national grid.
Following this development, the government has approved 70 renewable energy projects which would power more than 8 million Australian homes. This is the most renewable energy any government has ticked off in Australian history.
