Construction works commence at Yahaba Biomass Power Station

The power it will generate is enough for 5,000 homes.

Furusato FIC Energy, LLC, a joint venture of Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc., Inabata & Co., Ltd., and Furusato Mokuzai Logistics K. K. has started construction work on the Yahaba Biomass Power Station in Yahaba-cho, Shiwa-gun, Iwate Prefecture.

The wood-fired biomass plant will generate 1,990 kilowatts of electricity mainly from forest timber offcuts and unused thinned wood. Its estimated annual power output is around 1,450 megawatt-hours which is roughly the energy used by 5,000 homes per year.

The plant is scheduled to start operation in January 2026.
