Energy Vault takes over 1 GWh Aussie BESS project
This will deliver eight hours of dispatchable energy.
Energy Vault Holdings, Inc. has acquired the 125 megawatt / 1,000 megawatt-hour Stoney Creek Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) from Enervest Group.
In a statement, Energy Vault said the acquisition of the Stoney Creek BESS with a construction value of $220m is aligned with the expansion of its owned and operated projects.
The project was designed to deliver eight hours of dispatchable energy. It has been awarded a 14-year Long-Term Energy Service Agreement by the Australian Energy Market Operator Services under the New South Wales Roadmap Tender Round 5 for long-duration storage.
Energy Vault will develop and integrate the project, whilst Enervest will continue to provide the project development services and stakeholder engagement as part of the transition.
The company said site mobilisation and pre-construction activities will commence later this year.
