ENEX confirms plans to develop 1,100-MW gas plant in Philippines' Batangas province

This is in response to several published articles.

ENEX Energy Corporation confirmed it is still keen on developing a 1,100-megawatt (MW) gas plant in Batangas, Philippines.

ENEX clarified this at the request of the Philippine Stock Exchange to confirm the accuracy of news reports, quoting its Chairman Gerardo C. Ablaza, Jr.

In an article published by Manila Standard on 23 April, Ablaza said the company "remains keen on developing a 1,100-megawatt combined cycle gas turbine project through Batangas Clean Energy (BCE) and the Cinco oil and gas prospect under Petroleum Service Contract 55.”

ENEX also said that whilst SC 55 in the West Philippine Sea remains under force majeure due to ongoing geopolitical issues in the region, the company continues to be on the "lookout" for potential partners for the asset.

Moreover, the company said it will advise the Exchange promptly of any developments as applicable.
