JSW Energy arm to build 250-MW wind power project
Another subsidiary inked a PPA for solar energy.
JSW Neo Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of JSW Energy Limited, has received the letter of award from Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited for setting up a 250-megawatt (MW) wind power project.
In a regulatory filing, JSW Energy said the grid-connected project was secured following a tariff-based competitive bid.
JSW Energy also announced in a separate filing that JSW Renew Energy Twenty Limited, its wholly owned step down unit, has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited. This is for solar capacity of 300 MW awarded by Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited
Under the agreement, power will be supplied until fiscal 2044 with a tariff of $0.0344 per kilowatt-hour (INR2.89 per KWh).
The project is located in Pavagada Solar Park, Karnataka and is expected to be commissioned in the next 18 months. The current solar pipeline capacity stands at 3.2 gigawatts (GW) with PPAs signed for 1.3 GW.
JSW Energy has around 17 GW of generation capacity, with 7.5 GW operational, 2.3 GW under construction, and 7.1 GW planned. The company also has 4.2 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of energy storage.
By 2030, JSW Energy aims for 20 GW generation and 40 GWh storage. It also targets carbon neutrality by 2050.
