Philippine-based Alternergy switches on 5-MW hydroplant in Nueva Ecija province

The plant will provide energy to about 158,000 residents.

Alternergy Holdings Corporation has started operating its five-megawatt Dupinga run-of-river hydropower plant in the Nueva Ecija province in the Philippines.

According to a press release, the company said it will supply electricity to the franchise area of Nueva Ecija II Electric Cooperative Inc. Area 2 as embedded generation.

The plant will provide energy to about 158,000 residents, generating 23,000 megawatt-hours annually over a 25-year period.

The project is also expected to reduce carbon emissions by 16,500 metric tonnes.
