PH’s Linseed Field LNG terminal resumes operations

However, another facility remains to face delays.

The Philippines has announced that Linseed Field Corporation’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal has resumed operations, supplying 1,350 megawatts of gas-fired power.

However, the Department of Energy (DOE) noted that Excellent Energy Resources Inc. (EERI) remains offline due to ongoing technical issues with its 500 kilovolt gas-insulated switchgear.

The temporary shutdown of these facilities – jointly owned by Meralco PowerGen, San Miguel Global Power, and Aboitiz Power – was necessary to facilitate critical mechanical activities at the LNG terminal. These were also part of broader infrastructure enhancements, including the completion of Linseed’s first onshore LNG storage tank, expected to be operational by the end of April 2025.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) coordinated the shutdown schedule to align with lower system demand. No yellow or red alerts occurred during this period, as initially assessed by the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines.
